About CEW West Coast
CEW is based in New York City, and it also has members and hosts live speaker events for the West Coast beauty community in Los Angeles, California. While events are open to both CEW members and non-members, the special networking receptions prior to these events are open exclusively to members. These receptions are a vital way for beauty professionals on the West Coast to connect to the industry at large. Events are held three times a year and offer attendees access to key industry leaders speaking on the hot topics in beauty.

Committee Member Spotlight
Kristen Giordani, Beauty
Editor On Call; Goldstar VP of Content & Merchandising
I’m Kristen Oldham Giordani and I’ve used my 15+ years of
experience as content creator in the beauty and live entertainment field doing
what I love to help women enhance their most beautiful selves, and discover the
creativity that lives within them through going to live events. I’m currently
the VP of Content & Merchandising at Goldstar while continuing to freelance
beauty edit (for sites like YouBeauty.com, Nail
It!, Beauty Launchpad and more) and blog.
Previous staff gigs include TotalBeauty.com, Seventeen and CosmoGIRL! (RIP).
I jump out of bed with a big smile on my face each morning because I get to
tell millions of people about the Vanilla Ice ‘90s mash-up concert that’s
coming to LA or how to finally master the art of liquid liner (even while
overly caffeinated). This is more than a job; I’m on a mission to provide
quality content that tells people something they hopefully didn’t already know and
contributes significant revenue growth.
Why are CEW membership and events so important for beauty professionals doing business on
the West Coast?
Unlike New York City, where I relocated from nine years ago,
SoCal is so spread out. It’s not nearly as easy to connect with other women in
the industry due to simple geography. Without CEW and its events, there would
be very few ways to come together to socialize, network and just be around
people who are as passionate about beauty. I’ve met so many amazing women (and
Men!) through CEW and have also been able to keep in touch with former
colleagues through the quarterly events. It’s been a blast. And, the contact
list of members is SO helpful when it comes to job searching for yourself and
when helping others.
How have the CEW West
Coast programs and your participation on the committee impacted your career?
With every event I’ve attended I’ve come away with a nugget
of advice or an idea I can use to further my own career or to apply to the work
I do every day. The men and women who speak at our events are truly
inspirational, but they often have very practical and tactical suggestions we
can all put to use. My work on the committee has given me exposure to so many
professionals in the beauty space – and not just in beauty media or PR (the
people I would typically connect with). This has opened doors and given me
ideas of future careers, and of course, connections to people who can help me
land those future roles. |
