Cosmetic Executive Women, Inc. (“CEW”) is committed to protecting information with respect to users of our web site www.cew.org (the “Site”). This policy describes our practices regarding the privacy of our Site’s users’ information.

Information Collected
CEW shall only collect personally-identifiable information to the extent reasonably necessary for legitimate business purposes. CEW may collect:

  1. Information voluntarily provided by you on the Site to create an account to become a member of the Site, and other information you may voluntarily provide, such as your personal contact information, e-mail address, user name and password.
  2. The domain names and IP addresses of users' web browsers.
  3. Information on what users access, utilize or visit on or through the Site.
  4. Information you disclose in any user content that you post, submit or permit to be posted or submitted to any section of the Site.

How the Information is Used and External Distribution
CEW may use the information you give it to provide services to you and to provide information and notices (such as newsletters, alerts, information regarding programs and events) from CEW and third parties that CEW thinks you may find interesting or useful. CEW may also use the information for confirmation of registrations to CEW events or in connection with other actions that you take on our Site.

Aggregated Information
CEW may use your information for the purpose of using for its own benefit and for providing aggregated information about users (that is not personally identifiable to any user) to third parties.

Distribution to Third Parties of Personally Identifiable Information and of Confidential Information
External distribution does not include certain limited distributions such as sharing personally-identifiable information with a third party working on behalf of CEW, transfer of personally-identifiable information in connection with the sale of CEW assets or the merger or acquisition of CEW or the disclosure of personally-identifiable information in connection with legal proceedings, investigations of crimes, or other governmental investigations. Transferring personally-identifiable information in connection with a sale or merger and sharing personally-identifiable information with an entity or person working on behalf of CEW is considered an onward transfer to third parties and is permitted under this policy.

Use of Cookies
CEW uses “cookies”. “Cookies” are elements of data that a web site can send to a user’s browser and store on a user’s computer. Cookies can note that a user’s browser was used to visit certain sites or pages on a certain date. CEW uses cookies to enhance navigation and functionality of the Site. CEW also uses cookies to let it know how visitors are using the Site, so that it can improve the Site and a user’s experience on it.

Posting or Submission of Content
Any content or information that you post or submit to the Site, including without limitation, through any comment sections, discussion forums, CEW’s career center, CEW’s mentoring program, which CEW may make available on the Site will become public information, and also may be collected or used by other users of the Site with access to such areas of the Site. CEW is not responsible for other Site users’ use of any content or information that you post or submit to these areas of the Site.

Membership Directory
CEW maintains an on-line membership directory which members may access by logging onto the Site. The information that CEW collects from members and stores in the membership directory includes, but is not limited to, your full name, title, the name and address of your organization or place of employment, home address, email address and phone number. CEW uses industry accepted reasonable safeguards to protect the security, integrity and privacy of information in the membership directory, but CEW cannot guarantee the privacy of such actions or make any representations and warranties with respect to the security of such information.

Disclosure
You acknowledge and agree that CEW may preserve or disclose any personally-identifiable information if it reasonably believes disclosure is required by law or in the good faith belief that such preservation or disclosure is reasonably necessary to: (a) comply with legal process, including but not limited to civil and criminal subpoenas, court orders or other compulsory disclosures; (b) enforce the Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions; (c) respond to claims that any content violates the rights of third-parties; or (d) protect the rights, property or personal safety of CEW, its members, users and the public.

The Site may provide links to other web sites that CEW thinks you will find interesting or useful. CEW is not responsible for the privacy practices of these other sites.

Access, Review and Correction
Users can, by e-mailing CEW at membership@cew.org or by writing to Shari Beck, Senior Manager, Member Services, Cosmetic Executive Women, Inc., 159 West 25th St, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10001, review and correct the personally-identifiable information that has been collected from them by CEW. Users may, where applicable, correct such personally-identifiable information that was collected on the Site’s registration system by making changes to their member account and/or to their profile.

Binding Agreement and Changes
Any user that accesses all or any part of the Site agrees that such user is at least eighteen years old and has agreed to this Privacy Policy. Each time a user accesses the Site, this Privacy Policy should be reviewed because CEW reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time and the revised Privacy Policy shall become effective and govern the use of the Site within five days of such revised Privacy Policy being initially posted on the Site.

By accessing the Site, you agree that any dispute with respect to privacy is subject to this Privacy Policy and the Terms and Conditions of the Site. Any claim arising out of or relating to this Privacy Policy or the privacy of users’ information shall be governed by the laws of the State of New York, without giving effect to any conflicts of laws provisions. You agree that in the event of any dispute or claim with respect to this Privacy Policy or any privacy issues, the sole and exclusive jurisdiction for bringing any such action shall be the Borough of Manhattan in the City of New York in the State of New York and you waive any claim of inconvenient forum.

Effective Date

This Privacy Policy is effective as of November 29, 2010.
